Apple have announced a brand new Apple Original podcast titled ‘Run, Bambi, Run,’ premiering today with the first two episodes now available via Apple Podcasts and its RSS feed.

Hosted by journalist and author Vanessa Grigoriadis, the eight-part Apple Original true-crime podcast series follows the sensational true-life story of Laurie “Bambi” Bembenek, a Milwaukee police officer who was dubiously convicted of killing her husband’s ex-wife, before braving a daring escape that sparked an international manhunt following a years-long quest to clear her name.

Forty years removed from original events, the podcast series explores the true-crime boom of the 1980’s and the obsession with the infamous femme fatale stereotype that lead to the conviction of the late former cop and PlayBoy Club waitress. After her imprisonment, Bembenek filed three unsuccessful appeals of her conviction, citing police errors in handling of key evidence and the fact that one of the prosecution's witnesses, Judy Zess, had recanted her testimony, stating it was made under duress.

‘Run, Bambi, Run’ is produced by Campside Media with executive producers Grigoriadis, Mark McAdam, Adam Hoff, Josh Dean, Matt Share, and Kyle Long.

Up Next: Apple's growing lineup of original podcasts also include 'The Line', 'Hooked' and 'Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy'
