Apple have given a straight-to-series order to ‘Chief of War’, an eight-part limited series starring, written and executive produced by Jason Momoa, from Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.

The newly revealed unveiled series created by Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett will follow the epic story of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.

Momoa and Sibbett will executive produce alongside Francis Lawrence (‘SEE’), Peter Chernin (’SEE’, ’Truth Be Told’), Jenna Topping (’SEE’, ‘Truth Be Told’), Eric Holmberg (‘Fargo’), and Doug Jung (‘Star Trek Beyond’) - who will also serve as showrunner. As for possible directors, Justin Chon (‘Pachinko’) is currently in the negotiation phase to direct the first two episodes.

‘Chief of War’ joins ’SEE’ as the second Apple original series lead by Momoa, and will mark the first time Momoa has written for television, having previously co-written, directed and starred in 2014 feature ‘Road to Paloma’ and co-written - with Pa’a Sibbett - the story for upcoming feature ‘The Last Manhunt’.

Jason Momoa, who is of Hawaiian descent, will return later this year as Baba Voss in season three of ’SEE’.

Up Next: In preperation for the subject matter of ‘Chief of War’ we recommend Christopher Kahunahana’s enlightening documentary ‘Waikiki’.
