According to a report from Deadline, Apple have acquired the space-race inspired ‘Project Artemis’ from writer Rose Gilroy in a reported $100+ million deal. The buzzy movie package will see Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans reunite, with Emmy Award winner Jason Bateman on board to direct.
Since confirmed in a tweet from Evans ('Defending Jacob'), 'Project Artemis' will see the Avengers stars reunite on-screen after previously being attached to upcoming Apple Original romantic action-adventure feature ‘Ghosted’ before scheduling conflicts saw Johansson make way for Ana de Armas.
Plot details are currently thin, but what is known is that the upcoming feature will focus on the space race between the Soviet Union and the USA - a subject matter that will be familiar to fans of the alternate-history Apple Original series ‘For All Mankind’.
Two-time Academy Award nominee Johansson will produce alongside Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn through These Pictures production company, which commissioned and developed the script. Bateman will also produce via his Aggregate Films banner.
Fun Fact: Scarlett Johansson is also set to star and produce upcoming Apple/A24 science-fiction drama ‘Bride’, directed by Oscar-winning director Sebastián Lelio.
