In news that is a VERY welcome and also a huge relief for us here at Screen Times, Apple has finally renewed Acapulco for a second season.

The critcally acclaimed bilingual comedy starring Eugenio Derbez and Enrique Arrizon among many others really struck a chord with viewers when it premiered in October last year. It is also still the only scripted show on Apple TV+ to be at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. All this made it very strange to not hear about an immediate second season renewal.

Turns out we shouldn't have worried. Filming will commence in Mexico in the spring and Apple even provided a sneak peak of what we can expect in season 2:

In 1985, Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort, unexpected problems at home, and a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. In the present day, Older Máximo (Eugenio Derbez, who also narrates the series) arrives in Acapulco, where he encounters various people from his past — for better and worse.

Fun Fact: the fictional resort in the series, 'Las Colinas', features a house band singing amazing Spanish language covers of 80s classics that you can listen to in full on Apple Music!
