‘Can you ever truly trust someone to keep your secrets safe?’ - that’s the question being asked in the new teaser trailer for the second season of ‘Truth Be Told’, which returns to Apple TV+ in August. The new season will bolster an already packed summer line-up on the service.

In season two of the NAACP Image Award-winning drama, true crime podcaster Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer) returns to crack a new case involving her childhood friend, Micah Keith (Kate Hudson), who’s husband has been found murdered. Keith is a well-known media mogul and as Poppy digs deeper into the case, questions of trust arise and their friendship is put to the test. The trailer promises plenty of suspense and hints at lots of twists and turns throughout the season.

Created by Nichelle Tramble Spellman, the show’s first season told the story of convicted killer Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), who was possibly mistakenly incriminated by Poppy and her successful podcast. The show received very mixed reviews from critics but was received more favourably by audiences.

Whilst season two will focus on an entirely new story, several cast members will return. Along with Octavia Spencer, Ron Cephas Jones, Mekhi Phifer, Michael Beach, Tracie Thoms, Haneefah Wood, Tami Roman and Katherine LaNasa will all reprise their roles. Joining the show’s second season are Christopher Backus (‘Big Little Lies’), Alona Tal (‘SEAL Team’), David Lyons (‘Seven Seconds’), Andre Royo (‘Empire’), Merle Dandridge (‘The Flight Attendant’) and Mychala Faith Lee.

Season 2 of Truth Be Told will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 20th.
