With the launch of its streaming service imminent, Apple’s dedicated Apple TV YouTube channel has shifted its focus to Apple’s original content lineup. The channel which launched in April was once home to a plethora of film trailers, behind the scenes TV-show clips and interviews from a host of content partners. The last non Apple TV+ related video published to the channel – just 6 days ago – is now unavailable.

Before the launch of Apple’s dedicated Apple TV YouTube channel, trailers from content partners had historically been housed in Apple’s iTunes Trailers platform which hasn’t seen a design update in over a year. It is yet to be seen how – or if – Apple will promote future content and behind the scenes clips from its content partners along with its other original content offerings; including Carpool Karaoke.

Apple TV+ is set to launch this Autumn via the Apple TV app across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and a selection of Smart TVs from LG, Samsung, Sony and Vizio.

Deadline are reporting that  Apple have began work on an adaptation of Keshet International’s Hebrew-language TV show thriller, ‘False Flag.

This is the second Keshet series Apple will be adapting for Apple TV+ after it emerged last year work had began on a remake of Nevelot starring Richard Gere following an abandoned adaptation for HBO by Happy Madison.

Included in their article is a brief summary of the shows first season:

“The first season of the drama, which first aired on Israel’s Channel 2 in 2015, tells the story of five people, who wake up one morning to find themselves implicated in a ruthless kidnapping operation following the disappearance of the Iranian Defence Minister. As news bulletins repeatedly broadcast their names and photos, their attempts at denial are all in vain – the coverage sweeps them up in a maelstrom of publicity. At first, everyone is convinced that Mossad was behind the operation – but then the five civilians are stunned to discover that the government, which is supposed to protect them, as well as Mossad itself, denies all involvement and accuses them as suspects. Instead of helping them, the authorities persecute, investigate and point fingers, and even their loved ones begin to doubt their innocence.”

False Flag was an award winner and received distribution internationally:

“The original series, which won the Grand Prize at Series Mania and launched at Berlinale and was produced by Tender Productions, aired via Hulu in the U.S. and on Fox International Channels across its global portfolio of networks.”

Located on the west coast in Ireland’s 3rd largest city, Limericks Troy Studios will host production of ‘Foundation’ in the coming months after striking a deal with Apple -according to the Sunday Independent. The studio’s comprise of 350,000 square feet under one roof with an additional 70,000 square feet of soundstage space.

‘Foundation’ is an adaptation of  Isaac Asimovs book of the same name. The complex saga tells the story of humans scattered on planets throughout the galaxy, living under the rule of the Galactic Empire. With heavy influence on Star Wars among others, Asimovs ‘Foundation’ is regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi stories of all time, beating J.R.R. Tolkeins ‘The Lord of the Rings’ to the Hugo Award in 1966 for “Best All-Time Series”. Published in 1951 Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ was followed by ‘Foundation and Empire’ the following year, with the trilogy culminating with 1953’s ‘Second Foundation’. Asimov then followed up the original trilogy with two sequels: 1982’s ‘Foundation’s Edge’ and ‘Foundation and Earth’ released in 1986.

Following strong competition Apple acquired ‘Foundation’ for their upcoming streaming service after Skydance Television partnered with the estate of Isaac Asimov for rights to the book. The Apple TV+ original and Skydance Television production will be executively produced by David S. Goyer; most famous for his work on the ‘Dark Knight’ and ‘Blade’ movie trilogies after co-showrunner Josh Friedman departed pre-production in April.

Foundation is expected to debut in 2020 as part of Apple TV+.
